We, in DC, are navigating a time of deep uncertainty and unrest. This moment can be unsettling, even frightening, but it is also a powerful call to action. Judaism teaches us the importance of standing with our community, to bear witness and to demand a better, more just world.
When our neighbors are hurting, when the very principles of democracy feel threatened, our place is to stand together. The act of gathering, of raising our voices in unity, is a way of reaffirming our commitment to a society grounded in dignity and peace for all.
This week, in additon to other events, many of our religious organizations are hosting vigils across the city, and specifically up and down 16th St. These gatherings are not just a response to a specific event. They are a profound expression of our moral and spiritual identity. They are opportunities for us to turn our anxiety into a powerful, collective voice.
Join with us on 16th St., in front of Tifereth Israel, on Monday, September 8, 5:30-6:30 pm to stand together and raise our voices.
