This is a reminder about the Shalem program this Shabbat focusing on SEAChange and how you can be involved.
 
The Shalem program will be your chance to hear about our new partnerships with activist nonprofits Interfaith Power and Light (IPL) and Action in Montgomery (AIM), and a chance to hear from participants about their experiences so far. There will also be an update on our committee's work on making our congregation more  welcoming, along with a chance to get to know your fellow congregants through a guided conversation.

Moving ahead there will be many opportunities to be invovled in the organizing work that the SEAChange cohort has been building up to. Some of these opportunities will be working internally and others will be out in the community through IPL and AIM.

One opportunity that is coming up soon is a training led by AIM. Here is the description of the training:

The Power of Relationships:
Organizing in the Framework of our Faith Traditions
Sunday, Feb. 12th, 12:45-3:00pm
Please join faith groups for an in person training session led by Action in Montgomery (AIM) to build relationships within and across our faith communities and learn how to use the power of our relationships to bring our world closer to our vision of “the world as it should be.” The training will be in preparation for a significant AIM action with the Montgomery County Executive and Members of the Montgomery County Council on Sunday afternoon, March 12th, advocating for affordable housing, universal pre-k, and other AIM priority issues. At Washington Hebrew Congregation's Julia Bindeman Suburban Center, 11810 Falls Road, Potomac, MD. Lunch will be served. There is no fee to participate. RSVP HERE.

This training expresses the ideas of why I wanted TI to be involved in SEAChange in the first place. Organizing is about relationships and if you haven't caught it by now, my view is that relationships are the cornerstone of our congregation as well.

What would be better than to "build relationships within and across our faith communities and learn how to use the power of our relationships to bring our world closer to our vision of 'the world as it should be?'" 

Whether you want to build relationships to strengthen our TI community, to make it a more inclusive and welcoming place for all or, to affect change in the broader community, SEA Change is a great onramp to getting involved.
