TZOHAR offers rich and inspiring Jewish learning to area high school students. Now in its second year, Tzohar is a partnership between Ohr Kodesh, Ohev Sholom, and Tifereth Israel Congregation. Participants will enjoy programming each week in two distinct styles: meaningful discussion grounded in the study of classical Jewish texts, and college-style classes provided by professors from the Joseph and Rebecca Meyerhoff Center for Jewish Studies at the University of Maryland. 

Open to 8th-12th graders from Montgomery County and Washington, DC.

Tzohar will meet 5:30-7:45 pm. on Sunday evenings at Ohr Kodesh Congregation (dinner is included in tuition). 
Tzohar Tuition: $1,650 per student

Registration for Tzohar is only complete with a payment of a $250 non-refundable deposit for each student enrolled. (This deposit is applied to the tuition.) Tuition includes dinner and September’s Tovanot sessions (see below). Some optional activities during the year may incur an activity fee for supplies for program participation. Enrollment is limited to 30 students.

Tuition is due in full by December 31, 2024. No refunds will be given after that date. Please contact us for a more extended payment plan.

TOVANOT- Generating Insight and Understanding, Building Community Resilience is a new MoEd educational program utilizing a dual-narrative approach to understanding the political environment of Israel and building empathy towards it. Tovanot encourages a rigorous understanding of Israel and its significance to Jews and Israelis, alongside a concern for Palestinian lives and narratives.
A kosher dinner will be served halfway through each session. 

Please note: For teens who are NOT registered for Tzohar, this program costs $150 per student. Tzohar students are automatically signed up for this program at no additional cost (no need to fill out this form). 

Tovanot meets Sundays, September 8, 15, 22, and 29; 5:30 - 7:45 pm.
