Prof. Barry Strauss discusses his new book, Jews vs. Rome: Two Centuries of Rebellion Against the World's Mightiest Empire. Jews vs. Rome chronicles the two centuries from 63 B.C., when the Roman conquest of Judea began, to A.D. 136, when the Bar Kokhba Revolt was finally crushed. Strauss covers the three primary uprisings, deep internal conflicts among Jews, and geopolitical clashes between Rome and Persia, He then discusses key outcomes of the period, including the transformation of Judaism and the rise of Christianity.
