Rain Garden

The Green Committee, spearheaded by TI member and landscape architect, Carla Ellern, created TI's rain garden in order to meet three major objectives: To prevent runoff into Rock Creek, just blocks away,  to reduce flooding, and to beautify the Juniper Street entrance. The project includes two bioswales, an infiltration planter and permeable paving. The District Department of the Environment supported TI with a special grant given to houses of worship to reduce stormwater runoff. Additional support came from the Anacostia Watershed Society.
