I’m writing on behalf of the TI Board of Directors to provide some important updates, as well as details on upcoming meetings and opportunities for congregants to share their views with the Board. Please note the dates below and read on for more information.
Upcoming Meeting Schedule

December 13 at 8:00 pm – MONTHLY BOARD MEETING
Congregants are welcome to attend, as usual. The agenda will be provided to the community the Friday before the meeting.

SPECIAL BOARD MEETING:
THE JUNIPER PROPERTY
The Property Use Committee will present findings and the Board will consider the best path forward. Congregants are invited to speak for two minutes during the meeting (as time allows) and/or may submit written comments in advance. Learn how below.
January 10 at 8:00 pm – MONTHLY BOARD MEETING
Congregants are welcome to attend, as usual. The Board anticipates making decisions about the property at this meeting. The agenda will be provided to the community the Friday before.
Replacing our HVAC system
At the November Board meeting, The George Greenberg Building Preservation Fund Trustees recommended replacement of major elements of the HVAC system. They made this recommendation because these elements (many of which are original) have either failed or are failing. The Board voted to move forward on the project, which is expected to cost roughly $750,000, subject to financing.
The project will be financed through loans made to TI by individuals at a 3% simple interest for five years. At the end of the five years, lenders can convert their loan into a charitable gift or sign on for an additional three years, with board approval. If you are interested in providing a loan please contact Finance VP Larry Paul. You can learn more about the critical need for this investment at the Town Hall on December 9.
Juniper Street Property Updates
As announced last summer, TI is under contract to purchase the property at 1446 Jonquil Street NW. Since September, a Property Use Committee has been working to determine short-term and longer-term uses that will best benefit TI. Thank you to all who have participated in the listening session and survey and provided support and information.
The December 20 special meeting is an opportunity for the Board to hear from the Property Use Committee and review their findings. We will also welcome input from congregants as part of the decision-making process of the board. You may submit written comments before December 16 using this form. If you would like to speak for two minutes during the meeting, you can make that request via the form. We have 30 minutes set aside for public comments, but the Board will consider extending that allotment if needed. Please help us gauge congregational interest in providing comments by filling out the forms by December 16.
