After 1177 BCE: The Survival of Civilication and the Rise of Ancient Israel
Sponsored by Gevarim
In this online series, GW Prof. Eric Cline discusses how the collapse of powerful Late Bronze Age civilizations around 1177 BCE created new circumstances to which people and societies had to adapt. Those that failed to adjust disappeared from the world stage, while others transformed themselves, resulting in a new world order that included the Israelites, the Phoenicians, and the Philistines. In particular, he discusses the extent to which biblical history correlates with archeological history.
Presented by the Haberman Institute for Jewish Studies, recorded July 3, 2024.
