Tisha B'Av is a fast day which commemorates the anniversary of a number of disasters in Jewish history, primarily the destruction of both the First Temple by the Babylonians and the Second Temple by the Romans. It is traditional to chant the book of Eicha (Lamentations) with its haunting melody, and to sing songs with themes of sorrow and messages of hope.
On Wednesday evening we will gather for Ma'ariv, followed by chanting Eicha. Our observance continues with a morning service that includes a special Torah reading and Haftarah for Tisha B’Av.
