Inclusivity at TI
Inclusivity at TI
Tifereth Israel (TI) Congregation in Washington, D.C. offers a welcoming community for a diverse range of families and individuals.
TI is a proudly multi-generational community. From toddlers to great-grandparents, members come together for religious services, holiday celebrations, and more. At TI, everyone can find a variety of learning, social, and service opportunities that engage and challenge them.
TI families include single parents, people who are co-parenting, multi-generational households, couples, and single individuals. TI members include Jews with day school backgrounds and Jews new to Jewish learning. TI includes Jews by choice, Jews of color, and Jews from Sephardi/Mizrachi as well as Ashkenazi backgrounds.
Many of TI’s families include LGBTQ individuals and couples, and we work to ensure that LGBTQ people feel comfortable participating in all of TI’s activities.
For TI families where not every member of the family is Jewish, family members of a different faith (or no faith) are welcome to attend religious services and to take part in the wide variety of religious and social activities that TI provides. Our Interfaith Affinity Group provides opportunities for interfaith households to meet, celebrate holidays, and support one another.
TI strives to make its activities and its building accessible to those with physical disabilities. Our building has ramps at the entrance, a lift to access the bima, assisted listening devices, Braille texts, reserved parking, as well as other accommodations, to ensure that everyone can access our building and programs.
Financial hardship is not a barrier to TI membership. Dues are easily and confidentially adjusted for those facing need (just ask the Executive Director for assistance).
Whatever you or your family looks like, TI wants to help you experience Jewish tradition in a way that works for you. You are welcome here!
If you have questions about how you or your family can fit into the TI community, please reach out to Rabbi Werbow or our Executive Director.
