This year the featured morning speaker will be Ilana Sumka. Her drash is entitled Are we the Prophets now?  She will address how - from Moses to Martin Luther King, Jr. and from Miriam to Arthur Waskow - the times we are living in may call for an ancient yet timely intervention: attuning to the realm of the prophetic.

Ilana Sumka is the Founding Executive Director of Shleimut: Jewish Pathways to Wholeness and Peace. She has nearly three decades of experience as an activist and educator in both the US and Israel/Palestine. She was the Director of Encounter in Jerusalem and the Founding Executive Director of the Center for Jewish Nonviolence. In the aftermath of the horrific attack of October 7 and subsequent destruction of Gaza, she joined the leadership team of Rabbis 4 Ceasefire.

Alana is the spiritual leader of Ohel Yachdav, Tent of Togetherness, a progressive havurah in Leuven, Belgium. Ilana had her bat mitzvah at TI in 1988 and is honored to return to TI's bima, now as a newly ordained Rabbi.
