The Himmelfarb School at Tifereth Israel is a place where students begin their journey on the path to lifelong Jewish involvement. We produce students who will build for themselves a Jewish home and remain actively involved in Jewish life in all its forms. We achieve this by creating an environment that is simultaneously academically challenging and full of warmth and joy.
We believe that the development of a strong Jewish identity can occur only if concrete knowledge is transmitted. Our goal is to have the children understand Judaism’s religious beliefs and traditions; be able to practice religious observances in the home and in the synagogue community; have the skill of Hebrew knowledge; understand the language of Tefillah (prayer); and be guided by the spiritual values and ethical principles of the Mitzvot (God's commandments) to lead an active, committed Jewish life.
Tifereth Israel is a congregation that treasures Jewish learning in all its forms. At the Himmelfarb School we provide a high quality learning environment that is built by a team of talented and creative faculty and guided by the Director of Lifelong Learning, the Rabbi, the Lifelong Learning committee, and you, the parents. We strive to work with parents in helping our students rise to great heights, transforming the words they learn on the page into actions in the world around them and making the transition from text books to text-people.
