Artist in Residence Alison Westermann
Wll Bring Us A Weekend Of Learning And Song
Hailing from El Paso, TX, Alison is a new voice in Jewish music. She blends traditional prayers and text with melodies that are a perfect blend of old and new Jewish influences. Alison has taught music to all ages, from tots up to adults. Alison and Eitan Gutin, Director of Lifelong Learning, have put together an exciting weekend for TI'ers of all ages:
Friday March 9th
6:00 p.m. Carlebach Service
Alison will teach and lead her original L'Cha Dodi.
Shabbat Dinner
A dinner with our musician in residence and USYers from all over N America.
Alison will teach a new Niggun and her original Dodi Li.
Shabbat March 10th
9:00 a.m. – noon Morning Services and Adon Olam in the Wolman
The entire TI community will learn Alison's new Adon Olam
and then sing it and make a joyful noise as one community.
10:00 a.m. Shultime
TI's tots will be treated to a special guest at Shultime when
Alison joins them for some musical Tefillot.
1:00 p.m. SHALEM: "Translating Text Into Song"
Alison will lead a study of the 3rd Psalm, particularly the 5th verse and the idea of “Sela.” Alison will share insights about her creative process and then teach us another new song, her take on the 5th verse, inspired by the beauty of the word “Sela.”.
8:00 p.m. Free concert featuring ALISON WESTERMANN
