By Paul Bardack

In most Western traditions, musical instruments are items to be "mastered"; in many Native American traditions, on the other hand, they are more intuitively accessible. Similarly with religion / spirituality: in many Western traditions, one's religious/spiritual outlook is conditioned by complex faith codes to be mastered; whereas in many Native American traditions awe over the mysteries of life are expressed readily through commonplace animals and items. This session will explore the use of the Native American Flute as a vehicle for spiritual expression, both historically and through contemporary music.
Paul Roitman Bardack has been a member of Tifereth Israel Congregation for approximately two decades, and is a past president.
