Learn Benching | Birkat Hamazon

We'll Teach You the Melodies,
the Prayers, Table Thumping and much more!
A beginner service for those who want to learn to "bench" (from the transliterated Yiddish, "benshnn", "to bless"). Birkat Hamazon are the prayers said after meals. They are prayed with haunting melodies that will get your body singing.
February 25 – A Teaching Session
1 p.m. – We will start with z'mirot (songs), the more common songs and melodies
1:15 p.m.– Simcha Kuritzky will go through our (relatively) new "bentscher" (book) and describe which parts we recite and which we don't (such as the grammar lesson in the middle). One of the regulars will lead at a leisurely pace. Experienced participants will share books with those who have trouble finding their place for the singing and "bentsching" (an alternate transliterated spelling).
If you would like to lead songs or birkat, or would like learn a particular song or melody, please contact Simcha Kurtizky at simcha dot kuritzky at cgifederal dot com.
